BetterTouchTool = MultiTouch-Gasm!

BetterTouchTool

I recently upgraded to the new 15″ MacBook Pro which comes with the incredibly fancy Multi-Touch enabled Trackpad. Three and four finger swipes for things like application switching and expose make working on this machine a delight. If you are like me and you love using and customizing shortcuts ( and now gestures), you need BetterTouchTool.

Prius Times Square Stunt

BIG news!

We’re extremely pleased to announce that the Toyota Prius Times Square stunt was a huge success. Having previously built the Prius physics-based ad-units that you have probably seen around the interweb, Saatchi & Saatchi LA invited us to help execute this BIG idea. We worked on the motion graphics for the Reuters screens ( all 13 of them! ), as well as a moderation tool that talked to the iPhone application. As you can imagine, without that moderation tool things would have gone dirty, fast!

Sunny LA

Living in Southern California can be hazardous to your health in more ways than one. The most glaring is usually our air-quality. Downtown is almost always blanketed in a nasty off-white haze. Today was a rare exception, so I took advantage of it.

The Way Forward According to R/GA

A Changing Landscape

There has never been a year quite like 2009. The simultaneous impact of technology and the global economic downturn have disrupted the advertising industry. What are some agencies doing and what do others need to do to take advantage of the unfolding opportunities? A very insightful and worthwhile talk given by Bob Greenberg (Chairman, CEO & Chief Creative Officer) & Barry Wacksman (EVP, Chief Growth Officer) of R/GA about the emerging shape of agencies post-recession. Definitely worth a watch. Originally found on BHH LABS.

Dyson Unveils Fanless Fan! What?

Dyson unveils blade-free fan.
Innovation does not come cheap.

But Air Multiplier is a conversation piece and if you stick your head inside the ring, you can be the ultimate fanboy.

Lightfader Floor

Remebers where you were

Ok, this is pretty fresh! The lightfader floor has fluid in it that gets displaced when you step on it and then slowly returns to its original state. Reminds me of this old exhibit at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, where you stand in front of a wall and contort yourself into a crazy position as it flashes, rendering your position on the wall. Sweet!

I Want: Canon EOS 7D : $1899!

Droooool

Being an avid invested Nikon (D70, D300), the thought of switching to Canon glass doesn’t really seem logistical. but I’ve got to say, as a digital artist and a total filmmaker wannabe, Canon is making a serious case for a switch. I also love my little Sony HDRSR11, but the lens is fixed and it can be a little cumbersome to do any kind of quick focusing. I’m starting to think that if I sell my D300 and my Handycam, I might be able to actually make some money on this deal. Hmm. More vids after the jump.

Glitchy jazz + glitch vis = awesome. This looks like it took some time to pull off. I’m guessing Cinema4D + Mograph. Found via behance.

Back To School.

About a month ago I picked up a Wacom Cintiq. One of my very favorite things to do with it is work on digital sculpts inside of Pixologic’s dreamy app, ZBrush. My Cintiq makes working in 3D so much more intuitive that I tend to get my ideas out quicker and with much more detail.
